May 29, 2009 - Greenland - The heirs to the thrones of Norway, CROWN PRINCE HAAKON, Sweden, CROWN PRINCESS VICTORIA, and Denmark, CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK on a joint trip to Greenland in order to learn more about climate change. Activities includes a meeting with international scientists drilling in Greenland's ice sheet to learn more about how the planet's climate has changed through time. The trio will travel on Inspection ship Ejnar Mikkelsen to Sisimiut, Sarfannguit, Qeqertarsuaq and Ilulissat, as well as the research stations NEEM and Summit, located on the inland ice. Friday, May 29th. they reached Illuissat. Ilulissat means icebergs in Greenlandic, and the town has a beautiful location at the mouth of the 56 km long ice fjord that is filled with enormous icebergs from the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere, Sermeq Kujalleq.
